Hajar Mrabet from Tafraoute Wins Miss Amazigh 2019

Hajar Mrabet, an Amazigh Woman living in Morocco’s southern town Tafraoute in the province of Tiznit, has won the Miss Amazigh 2019 crown. The coronation took place on Sunday in a  ceremony held in Agadir, gathering 800 people.

To win the pageant, a participant must be a natural l beauty as well as showing a high level of intelligence and the ability to speak the Amazigh (Berber) language. 

Entrants must be aged 18 and 29 years old and have mastered dialogue, debate, general culture, in addition to the strong presence of the Amazigh character, along with beauty consistent with the distinctive traditional dress and jewelry.

The 22-year-old nurse’s natural beauty earned her the attention of the voters, leading her to outperform the 12 candidates who participated in the beauty competition.

Upon winning the 6th Amazigh beauty pageant, Mrabet said that “being crowned Miss Amazigh 2019 is a great responsibility on my shoulder in order to give a more beautiful image to the Amazigh woman in terms of beauty, manners, behavior and practice, and in all the noble works that we seek to carry out, organize or participate in.”
